History Of
JetSport Wollongong
The Dealer
Principal, Ron Sumskis, became involved in motorcycles in 1965 aged 10,
cutting his teeth on BSA's Matchless and AOS motorcycles around the paddocks
and hills of Berkeley. In 1973, he started a motorcycle repair business in
Wollongong and commenced racing dirt track on Bultaco Pursings through to
Hagin Japs in the late seventies.
In 1980 he
reverted to road Racing on an ex Wayne Gardner TZ 350 Yamaha, winning his
way through C, B and finally A grade, taking a state championship and
several podium finishes in national titles.
In 1988, the honda RC30 superbike was launched, and with the help of Wayne
Gardner, he established a privateer superbike team which placed highly in the
Australian Endurance Championship and third in the ARAI 500 at
Bathurst.
Since then,
PWC have become part of the business with the acquisition of the Yamaha and
Polaris dealerships.
With a few closed circuit Australian titles and three major offshore titles to
his name, it seems the hunger for competition still remains.
The rest is history. . . . . . . . . . .
